Charaxes bernardus has dark yellow-brown forewings with white disc bands and a series of yellow-brown spots, the hind wings are black in the apical area. The underside is more yellow in color with a purplish silver luster on both wings. Females are much larger in size and paler in color than males.

Charaxes bernardus can be found in areas of tropical rain forest and humid deciduous forest at an altitude of up to 500 m asl.

Country : Charaxes bernardus spread in India, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, China, the Philippines, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Java and Bali.
Male Charaxes bernardus feeds on mammal feces to obtain essential salts which are passed on to females during the copulation process. This species usually maintains copulation on forested hilltops.
Larvae of Charaxes bernardus eat leaves from Aglaia lawii, Aglaia roxburghiana (Meliaceae), Cinnamomum camphora, Litsea glutinosa, Litsea populifolia (Lauraceae), Sapium sebiferum (Euphorbiaceae), Adenanthera pavonina, Paraserianthes falcataria, and Acronychia pendica (Leguminosae).
