Male Cethosia biblis has bright orange red wings that are framed by a black stripe with white spots. The undersides of the wings are bright red to pale brown, interspersed with black and white. Whereas in female butterflies the wings are grayish brown with black spots and stripes, the edges of the wings are black with spots.
Larva: larvae of Cethosia biblis are black with reddish and white stripes, the head is black and there are long black spines that contain poison.
Pupa: Cethosia biblis pupae are light brown in color with white markings, the surface is not smooth with protruding spines.
