Zizina otis is small, its upper wings are dull purplish blue with broad black borders on the edges for males, females are brown. The undersides of the wings are gray with a series of small black spots on the front and hindwings. The submarginal markings on both wings are usually diffuse and indistinct, this can distinguish them from other species of the same genus.
Larva: larvae of Zizina otis are cylindrical, green in color with dark green stripes on the back and yellowish stripes along the sides of the body. The head is brown or black, there are short setae on the surface of the body.
